Next.js + headless CMS

A Next.js website with a headless CMS: fast, yours to keep, updated without a developer.

Next.js for speed, a headless CMS for editing: Sanity, Prismic, Strapi, Craft CMS or Sveltia, depending on what matters to you. No theme, no plugins, no updates to watch. The content and the code belong to you.

When WordPress is no longer enough

A Next.js site with a headless CMS is worth it when you recognise one of these situations.

  1. Your site is slow and nobody knows why

A theme, twenty plugins, a page builder: every layer slows things down, and nobody knows which one to remove.

  2. Updates scare you

One plugin update breaks the layout, another opens a security hole. You pay to watch over a site that should just be quiet.

  3. Your brand deserves better than a theme

You have a design, a mockup, an identity. You want a site that respects it to the pixel, with interactions no theme offers.

I also work on WordPress, and sometimes it is the right choice: a simple site, a tight budget, a team that already knows it. If that is your case, I will tell you on the first call.

What you get

  • A site that shows up instantly

Pages generated ahead of time and served close to your visitors. A high PageSpeed score is not a goal, it is the starting point.

  • Your team edits everything, no developer needed

Texts, images, pages, projects: a simple editing space with live preview. A change is online within seconds.

  • Nothing to watch over

No plugins, no theme, no security updates on a Sunday night. The site runs, and keeps running.

  • True to your design

Your mockup, or your agency's, built as is, from mobile to large screens, with the interactions that belong to your brand.

  • Several languages without a monthly fee

Localised URLs, clean SEO per language, and if needed automatic translation of the content that your team corrects in a spreadsheet.

  • Code that belongs to you

A repository in your name, a standard stack, documentation. If you ever change provider, any Next.js team can take over.

Two sites in production

The same tools, two different needs.

Which headless CMS?

The right tool depends on what matters to you: simplicity, control, or staying free over time.

  • Hosted

    Sanity, Prismic

The simplest: a ready-made editing space, live preview, nothing to install. A free plan covers most sites, a subscription beyond that.

  • On your own server

    Strapi, Craft CMS

The CMS runs on your server, the content sits in your database. No dependency on a platform, and full freedom over content models.

  • In your repository

    Sveltia

The content lives in your files, versioned with the code. Free forever, no account or subscription, ideal when you want to be sure everything belongs to you.

The tools

Next.js and TypeScript for the site, the headless CMS that fits your need for editing, Vercel for hosting, Stripe for payments, next-intl for languages. Widespread, documented tools that others know how to take over.

Method

How it works

  1. We talk

A 15-minute call or a few emails, whichever you prefer, with no commitment. You describe your need, I tell you what is feasible, and what is not.

  2. A clear quote

A written scope and a price announced in advance, step by step. You know what you pay for and what you get.

  3. Delivery in steps

You see the project move forward, with a written report at every step. After launch, I stay available to keep it evolving.

Frequently asked questions

Is it more expensive than a WordPress site?

To build, it is comparable to a custom WordPress site. Over time it is often cheaper: no paid plugins, no maintenance hours for updates, and hosting with no server to manage. I quote a fixed price, with a written scope, before starting.

Can an existing site be migrated?

Yes. The content is imported into the new CMS, existing URLs are redirected so you keep your rankings, and the new site goes live once everything is checked. The old one stays up until then.

Who edits the site afterwards?

You do. The headless CMS gives you a simple editing space with live preview, and I train your team to publish. For changes that need code, I stay available.

Where is the site hosted, and what does it cost?

On Vercel or an equivalent host, with no server to manage. The cost depends on traffic and on the CMS chosen, from zero to a few dozen euros a month for a brand site. I give you the exact figure before we choose.

What if we stop working together?

The code lives in a repository in your name, the CMS is in your name, and the stack is standard. Any team that knows Next.js can take over without starting from scratch.

A 15-minute call or a few emails, no commitment. I will tell you whether headless is the right choice for you, and what it would cost.
